Dollar Store Craft Fun!

Jo has a tournament this weekend so I thought I'd make a gift for each of her coaches.  I used some dollar store items and here is the list

  1. Glass Mugs from the Dollar Store
  2. Printed Paper
  3. 1 inch Circle Paper Punch
  4. Modge Podge
  5. Nail Polish
  6. Resin
Completed Mugs
Inside Shot

Close Up

The first thing I did was take the logo off the net and printed it on the laser printer.  If you are printing on an inkjet be sure to seal your print first.  I used Modge Podge to put the print on the bottom of the mug and left if to dry.  I then started playing with Nail Polish to create the back ground.  I left it all to dry over night and then sealed it all with Envirotex Resin.  I'm hoping the coaches like them and now the family here wants a set!

    My First Craft Sale Was....

a success!  I sold some pieces of jewelry and had a lot of positive comments and maybe some custom work.  I think my set up was OK.  I need hubby to build me a post on which to hang my bags and I need so some other layouts to bring somethings up higher, but all in all I was pleased!!!!

Will I do it again??? You bet!

    Earring and Jewelry Displays

I got everything finished and delivered for the Fundraiser that is happening this weekend for B and his family.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do the displays but with some creative thinking I managed!  Last week I was thrift shopping and bought some packages of picture frames for a few dollars each and also checked the dollar store for some cheap frames too.  I took the glass out of all of them and cut cork the same size and slid the cork into the frames instead of the glass, used some chain and some thumbtacks and this is how they looked!

I would have been happier with plain thumbtacks, but that was all I could find!
I thought it was kinda creative!

    Delivered Gifts

I have a group of friends that I met online.  We all have the "been there and done that" in common. Out of our group 2 ladies have battled and beaten breast cancer in the last 2 years.  Today was the CIBC Run for the Cure and 7 ladies and some of their families ran or walked today to raise funds for the cure.  The group raised almost $6000.00!! Amazing for a group of about 20 runners and walkers.  I was not able to run or walk with them, so I made them personalized "medals" to be given to the 7 ladies.  I have had them made for about 2 weeks and haven't been able to blog about them..so here they are! Each were personalized with their names, but have cropped the name out of the first photo...

These were made pretty much the same way as the scrabble tile wine charms but I used glass tiles instead of the wooden ones.  They were well received by all and I am glad to have been part of the finish line for them, even if only in spirit!!

    Way to go Girls!!!!

    Wine Charms..The Finished Product!

I started last week trying different fonts and sizes and printing out samples to match the size to the Scrabble Tiles.  Once I had decided on one that I liked I printed them on 2 different kinds of paper to see which I liked better.  Turns out I used some off of each one!

Under the Winery Name I wrote
    Fine Wine
    and
    Fond Memories
    est 1984

After hubby drilled all the holes I used some small eye hooks and screwed them into the holes using some E6000

I then used some Microglaze to seal the printing and cut out each label for each tile.  Once they were all cut out I used some regular school glue sticks
to adhere each one to each tile.  I let these sit for a an hour or so and then sealed all of them using Judikins Diamond Glaze.

This was all left overnight to be sure the glue had adhered well and that the Glaze was set as well.

Friday morning I sat with my beads and findings all over the place and proceeded to make each one different and unique.  Here are the finished gifts that were loved by the recipients!

I had fun making them and I hope they will spend many hours around the stems of glasses so that more memories can be made!
